This past week Dryvebox was in Kentucky for the 9th annual PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Club. It was incredible.
Run by the PGA of America through PGA Reach, PGA HOPE aims to enhance the lives of veterans with disabilities by fostering social interaction and camaraderie through golf.
PGA HOPE influences the lives of over 17,000 veterans and active-duty military personnel nationwide through over 535 program locations. The program offers a developmental curriculum taught by PGA of America Golf Professionals, with no cost for military Veterans to participate.
To kick off the competition, 48 PGA HOPE members and 12 PGA of America golf professionals were greeted by a helicopter flyover from the Louisville Metro Police Department Air Patrol Unit.
Before and after their rounds, players had a blast in the Dryvebox mobile golf simulator operated by veteran Ryan Kortze of Dryvebox Tampa.
Each golfer engaged in a skills competition that included a closest to the pin contest, straightest drive contest, and longest drive contest. The competition included players hitting shots into Valhalla Golf Club’s 3rd hole, to mirror the upcoming 2024 PGA Championship experience in Louisville.
On the golf course, the 12 teams engaged in spirited competition during a 9-hole match. PGA HOPE Carolinas emerged triumphant, while PGA HOPE Georgia received the Journey Award, recognizing the importance of the journey for all who take part in the program.
One participant was found jumping for joy with driver in hand -- Erik Farney of Dryvebox San Diego!
Dryvebox is beyond excited to continue supporting PGA HOPE and PGA Reach golf events, with this Secretary's Cup marking just the beginning.
