From the Pitch to the Course
Long before bringing golf to Portland's streets, Alex's journey began on the soccer pitch. He chased his dreams in Mexico's second division for clubs like Club América and Club Necaxa. Though injuries eventually steered him away from professional soccer, his passion for sports never wavered. This led him through successful ventures in bar management across Oklahoma and San Diego, before returning to his Oregon roots in 2010.
Back in Oregon, Alex took the reins of Baez Sports Group, the family's artificial turf company. Under his leadership, the business flourished, specializing in creating state-of-the-art artificial turf complexes for youth soccer clubs. This success provided the foundation for future ventures and flexibility to prioritize family time – especially meaningful with the arrival of his daughter, Lennox, in 2020 and his son, Beckham, in 2022.
As their children reached school age, Alex and Sarah felt ready to expand their entrepreneurial horizons. With Alex's growing passion for golf, Dryvebox presented the perfect opportunity to combine business acumen with sporting enthusiasm. Since launching, Dryvebox Portland has brought its mobile golf simulator for trade shows to the region's most prestigious venues and events. From the LPGA’s Portland Classic to Nike’s World Headquarters, they've introduced countless people to the joy of golf.

One of Dryvebox Portland’s most memorable moments came during the Mississippi Street Fair, where they introduced their mobile golf experience to the more than 50,000 attendees.
